SCENT SEEKERS (BEGINNER NOSEWORK)
SCENT SEEKERS (BEGINNER NOSEWORK)
Welcome to Scent Seekers, an exciting beginner nosework course designed to help dogs build confidence, problem-solving skills, and a love for searching. In this foundation-level class, dogs learn to use their natural sniffing abilities in a fun, low-pressure environment while their humans learn how to support the search without interrupting it.
Nosework is not obedience training. Instead of asking dogs to follow cues, we allow them to lead the game, make choices, and solve scent puzzles at their own pace. This makes Scent Seekers a wonderful option for many different dogs, including shy or fearful dogs, energetic dogs, adolescent dogs, reactive dogs, and dogs who simply need more mental enrichment.
Course Overview:
Scent Seekers is the first class in our nosework series and focuses on building the dog first. Before introducing formal odor, we use food-based searches to help dogs develop confidence, independence, motivation, and a strong foundation for future scent work.
Over six weeks, you and your dog will learn how to approach search games in a way that is fun, supportive, and dog-led. Handlers will practice observing their dog’s body language, following their dog’s movement, managing the leash quietly, and creating successful search experiences that keep the dog excited to play.
This class is designed to prepare teams for future nosework classes in which dogs will begin working with birch, anise, and clove odors.
Course Details:
- Duration: Once a week for six weeks
- Class Length: One hour per session — NOTE: The orientation class is about 30-minutes, depending on how many questions the group has.

Key Learning Objectives:
- Building Search Motivation: Help your dog develop a strong, positive association with searching through fun, successful food-based search games.

- Foundation for Future Odor Work: Build the confidence, drive, and teamwork needed before moving into formal odor searches.
Our Training Philosophy:
At Good Dog, DYNO, we believe nosework should be joyful, confidence-building, and dog-centered. Our approach focuses on positive reinforcement, choice, and trust. We want dogs to feel capable, curious, and excited to search, and we want handlers to learn how to support their dogs without taking over the game.
Scent Seekers is about building the dog first. We are not looking for perfection or precision in this beginner class. We are building enthusiasm, independence, and teamwork through a fun activity that allows dogs to do what they naturally do best: use their noses.
Enroll in Scent Seekers to begin a rewarding nosework journey with your dog. Whether your goal is enrichment, confidence-building, future dog sports, or simply having fun together, this class is a wonderful place to start.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us for enrollment, class schedules, and further details. We look forward to helping you and your dog discover the joy of search!
