Welcome to R+ Snake Avoidance Training at Good Dog, DYNO—a specialized program designed to enhance your dog’s safety by teaching them to detect and alert you to the presence of snakes using humane and effective methods. This advanced course employs non-live snake decoys to ensure a safe and controlled learning environment while focusing on building your dog’s confidence and responsiveness.

Course Overview:

R+ Snake Avoidance Training is an advanced-level course crafted for dogs that have already mastered basic and intermediate obedience skills. Over six weeks, your dog will participate in intensive sessions that focus on developing reliable behaviors for snake detection and avoidance. Our training approach emphasizes rewarding desirable behaviors to ensure your dog learns in a positive, stress-free environment.

Our Training Philosophy:

We are committed to using humane, reward-based methods that strengthen the bond between you and your canine companion.

Course Details:

  • Duration: Six weeks, one session per week.
    • Orientation: The first week features a detailed orientation session without dogs to cover safety protocols and training methodologies.
    • Weekly Training Sessions: Five weeks of practical, hands-on training using snake decoys, focusing on alert behaviors in various scenarios.
  • Eligibility: Dogs must have completed Level One (Release the Beast or Fido Foundations) and Level Two (Paws & Poise) classes at Good Dog, DYNO. Dogs that have completed equivalent training elsewhere should contact us at info@gooddogdyno.com to determine eligibility.
  • Class Size: Limited to four dogs per class to ensure personalized attention and optimal learning conditions.
  • Cost: $350 for the entire course.

Key Learning Objectives:

  1. Alert Cue Mastery: Train your dog to reliably perform a specific alert behavior upon detecting snake cues.
  2. Environmental Familiarization: Use realistic scenarios with decoys and scent markers to simulate encounters, enhancing detection skills by sight, sound, and smell.
  3. Cue Generalization: Enable your dog to perform alerts effectively in various environments and positions for real-world readiness.
