Good Dog, DYNO is a positive-reinforcement dog training company based in Lakewood, Colorado. We specialize in evidence-based, relationship-focused training that supports dogs and their people through thoughtful education, clear communication, and humane practices.

Our programs include in-home training, Barks & Rec. (day training), our 7-to-7 Day Training Program, and group classes at our Lakewood Training Facility. We work with a wide range of dogs, from puppies to adults, including reactive and sensitive learners.

About the Role

This is an associate-level training position for someone with professional dog experience who is ready to grow within a structured, supportive training environment.

You’ll work across multiple training formats while receiving hands-on mentorship from our senior trainers and Chief Training Officer. The role begins with close collaboration and shadowing and progresses toward managing your own clients as your skills and confidence develop.

Training & Mentorship

As an Associate Trainer, you will:

  • Work alongside experienced Barks & Rec. and 7-to-7 Trainers
  • Shadow in-home training sessions and group classes
  • Learn our socialization-based, play-informed training systems
  • Gradually take on your own clients as proficiency is demonstrated

We invest heavily in training our trainers and prioritize consistency, safety, and ethical practice.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Associate-level trainer
  • Minimum 2 years of professional dog experience (trainer, day trainer, or similar)
  • Experience working with dogs in group settings
    • Group classes, day training, or similar
    • Daycare experience may be acceptable if not the only background
  • Experience working with a variety of breeds and ages
  • Teaching or coaching experience (group classes and/or one-on-one)
  • Comfortable with client communication and follow-up in a business setting
  • Eligible for AKC certification 

Preferred Qualifications

  • IAABC and/or CPDT certification
  • Experience working with reactive or sensitive dogs
  • College coursework or degree (or equivalent experience)

Scheduling & Availability

  • Starting part-time, with potential for full-time growth
  • Must be available for evenings and weekends
  • Flexibility to support coverage during vacations, illness, or absences

Job Responsibilities

Depending on business needs and training progression, responsibilities may include:

  • Providing coverage for Barks & Rec. and/or 7-to-7 during absences
  • Teaching weekday evening group classes (Release the Beast to start)
  • Shadowing private sessions with the goal of teaching private clients
  • Teaching weekend group classes (especially Saturdays)
